Anstruther Billowness

This lovely, sandy beach, close to Anstruther Golf Course, with interesting rock pools and overlooking the Firth of Forth, forms part of the Fife Coastal path.

Situated to the west of the harbour area of Anstruther, the beach forms a quiet bay. The beach is predominately sandy with a small number of rock pools. Billowness, like so much of the Fife coastline is very important for nature. It’s an ideal place for outdoor enthusiasts, walkers and people who just want to relax at the coast.

The beach forms part of the East Wemyss to Anstruther coast 'Site of Special Scientific Interest' (SSSI), which has been designated because of the large populations of birds that use the area and the diverse grassland which is home to a large number of important plant and insect species.

Anstruther Billowness are winners of a Keep Scotland Beautiful 2018 Beach Award.
