Aberdour Silver Sands, managed by the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust in partnership with Fife Council, have received an impressive four-star Quality Assurance Award rating from VisitScotland.
Following the beaches’ previous assessment in 2014, the award is an upgrade for Silver Sands, which is now recognised as a four star accredited visitor attraction.
Overall, Silver Sands was awarded a high score of 80%, which included categories from attraction and presentation, to catering and retail. The site was also recognised for the quality of sustainability, with energy, waste and water being among some of the categories that are being sufficiently met.
Fife Coast and Countryside Trust have been making significant steps to ensure positive partner working and were praised for maintaining such high quality of the site.
Robbie Blyth, Coastal Team Leader for FCCT, said: “The Parks, Streets and Open Spaces team have yet again carried out a great job with the ongoing grounds maintenance required, showing a real working relationship. Similarly, the RNLI beach lifeguards , coupled with the public toilet provision and litter maintenance have been working very hard together to ensure the cleanliness of the site. Nova Gambol’s Sands Coffee shop is also a fantastic venue and we are very pleased it scored so highly”.
“We are very proud to have received the award and this is a brilliant opportunity for the staff to be recognised for all of their hard work. We will keep working together to ensure such a high level of quality is maintained for all of Fife’s beaches.”
The Quality Assurance Award comes just months after fifteen of the beaches managed by FCCT were bestowed a Seaside Award by Keep Scotland Beautiful; viewed as the benchmark for quality beaches which are well managed and enjoyed by the public, both of these accolades show the wide array of Fife’s stunning coastline.
