Fife's Bio-Blitz

Monday, June 14, 2010
2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity and to help us celebrate we are holding a Bio-Blitz event on the 25th/26th June in the Lomond Hills.  Click here to view map.

During this Bio-Blitz naturalists and members of the public will work together to survey a natural space; seeking to identifying and record as many species as possible over a 24 hour period.

The aim of the event is to work directly with an environmental records centre, in this case Fife Nature,  in order to ensure that the data collected will have maximun scientific impact.

Previous events have located between 300 and 700 unique species, depending on the site and the number of people involved.  That is why we need your help!

The full programme of events are as follows:

Friday 25th June:
9:30   pm - Bats at Craigmead
10:30 pm - Moths at Limekilns

Saturday 26th June:
10:00 am - Open Moth Traps
11:00 am - Mammal Traps
11:30 am - Aquatic Plants and Animals
