Its official – Fife has the best loo in Scotland!
Our Fife public convenience has made the UK’s ‘roll of honour’ by winning the Loo of the Year’s National Beaches Category Award.
The facility here at Fife Coast and Countryside Trust’s headquarters at the Harbourmaster’s House in Dysart took the top slot at the awards recently, when it was named overall national winner and also received the coveted Platinum Award.
Other toilets looked after by the Trust at Aberdour Silver Sands and Kingsbarns received Gold Awards, while the Elie Harbour and Ruby Bay facilities won Silver Awards.
“We are very proud of these achievements,” said Amanda McFarlane, Chief Executive of Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, who paid tribute to the Trust staff who manage and maintain the toilets.
“Fife Council transferred responsibility for these facilities to us less than a year ago, so this is a wonderful recognition of their dedication in maintaining this very important service.”
The Trust’s Beaches and Coastal Officer Robbie Blyth, who collected the awards for all five facilities at last week’s ceremony in Solihull, commented: “Our staff do a great job making sure that visitors to Fife’s award winning beaches have award winning facilities to match.
“Linda McCallum, who looks after Scotland’s best seaside toilet, deserves extra-special congratulations for her truly outstanding work.”
