Fife Coastal toilets win National awards

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

The National Loo of the Year Awards 2014 have once again awarded top prizes to several of our toilets along the Fife coast.

This year, the awards have recognised the public conveniences at Dysart’s Harbourmaster’s House, Aberdour Silver Sands, Elie Harbour, Elie Ruby Bay and Kingsbarns Beach for the second year running. In addition, Aberdour Black Sands, Beach Brae at Kinghorn and the Eden Estuary Centre at Guardbridge all won awards for the first time.

The Harbourmaster’s House received the highest accolade with a Platinum award while the facilities at both Aberdour beaches, Kinghorn, Kingsbarns and the Eden Estuary Centre won Gold. All six of these are now in the running to be shortlisted for the overall national awards. Elie’s toilets were both distinguished with Silver commendations.

We have been managing these coastal toilets for the past two years and we are delighted that so many of the facilities have been nationally recognised. We’ve done even better this year with eight toilets winning awards and look forward to continued success in the future. Well done to all of the staff involved. These awards are a reflection of their hard work and dedication.

The National Loo of the Year Awards are run by the British Toilet Association to encourage the highest possible standards in all types of public or ‘away-from-home’ toilets.
