Silver Sands beach at Aberdour has been recognised as a four star visitor attraction by Visit Scotland.
Partners involved in improving the area have welcomed the news that the beach is now officially one of Scotland’s premier tourist destinations.
Bobby Clelland, chair of Fife Council’s South West Fife area committee, is delighted that hard work from everyone involved including the council, Fife Coast and Countryside Trust and the local restaurant has paid off.
He commented, “A number of improvements in the area including better signage and parking at the site have combined to give the beach, which already boasts a Blue Flag, four star status. Thanks are due to all those who have pulled together to help Silver Sands get the recognition it deserves.”
Beach patrols are now a feature at Aberdour throughout the season from April through to October and life guards provide a safe haven for bathers. The restaurant has provided more places to sit and enjoy al fresco dining on the patio area and there is improved signage to toilets and showers.
Added Cllr Clelland, “We’re hoping our new four star status will attract even more visitors to this very special part of Fife.”
