Pitcairn and Coul Den Loop

River restoration work is being carried out to the Back Burn in Coul Den in summer 2025. Paths may be diverted or closed therefore please follow on-site signage. Learn about theĀ Back Burn restoration project.

The Pitcairn and Coul Den Loop takes you through the diverse habitat and wildlife haven of Coul Den. The route continues through the newly planted native woodland of Pitcairn, planted to encourage red squirrels. Extend your walk by exploring Formonthills.

Route Information: Park at Coul Den Car Park just off Calder Court. The route skirts Coul Reservoir before following the Conland Burn before turning back toward Pitcairn. The route is a compacted, well-surfaced path with some narrow sections and short steep section of steps and a stone stile on the way.

Pitcairn is in the foothills of the Lomond Hills and is an ideal access point to the Lomond Hills Regional Park.
