Use our Travel and Information section when planning a visit to one of Fife’s fantastic open spaces and long-distance walking routes. Here are some things to help you make the most of your visit. You can also purchase maps and guide books to help plan your trip.
Public Transport
Many of our sites are accessible by public transport. For up to date public transport information visit Traveline Scotland, Scotland’s national public transport information service. You will find an impartial and up to date guide to all forms of public transport available across the country.
Their journey planner can help you plan your route and check times.

Tide Times
Several areas of the Fife Coastal Path involve walking along beaches and shorelines.
Path users must be aware of the dangers of rising tides and should always check the tide times before setting off. Most online weather sites have links to tide tables and you can find regularly updated times at the Tide Times website.
Weather
It will come as no surprise to you that the weather in Scotland is unpredictable!
Even in what we loosely term ‘summer’, the temperature at the coast can drop quickly as sea haar and winds increase. When walking in the Lomond Hills Regional Park the weather can change very quickly. Please ensure that you are appropriately dressed for your trip.
Public Toilets
We manage a range of public toilet blocks along the route of the Fife Coastal Path and inland. Many of these are open all year but some are subject to seasonal hours. In the event of inclement weather we may not always be able to open toilets as scheduled.
The public toilets we manage are winners at the Loo of the Year Awards. Read about the latest awards.
