Kinghorn Pettycur Bay

Kinghorn Pettycur Bay is a small, sheltered, sandy bay backed by sand dunes. It is an ideal spot to stop off and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Firth of Forth. The beach has been awarded a Seaside Beach Award for several years.

As the tide recedes at Pettycur, it exposes a huge area of sand and mud flats which go all the way out to the Black Rocks and all the way west to Burntisland beach which, at extreme low tide and with care, it is possible to walk to. Access to Kinghorn is via the A921 by car/bus and 5 minutes walk from the train station. Information on public transport can be found at Traveline Scotland.

Kinghorn Pettycur Beach are winners of a Keep Scotland Beautiful 2024 Scotland’s Beach Award.

A new toilet was installed at the harbour at Pettycur Bay in June 2023, and opening times can be found on the plan your trip section of our website.

Our ‘Fringe of Gold’ Beaches leaflet can be downloaded from the Resources section of our website.
