Harperleas Reservoir photographed by our Conservation Officer, Cristín, who was in the Lomond Hills Regional Park carrying out a wetland bird survey. The stats our team gathers go towards a national survey which collates important data on population and trends of waterbirds.

Summer days aren't all about the beach - so why not explore the Lomond Hills? There are 65 square kilometres of moorland, lochs and farmland and a network of paths. This is working land so please take a look at the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and protect wildlife, livestock and crops.

Download our Lomond Hills Regional Park leaflet to find out where to park, what to see and ideas for routes.

Hey! There's no more room on the rock! Our countryside warden Pete observed these playful seals from Fife Coastal Path today. Pete kept a distance from the seals and captured these videos by holding his phone camera to a monocular. Pete says: "There are loads of seals around and I observed quietly from a distance. The more relaxed they are, the more interesting behaviour you get to witness for sure."
Seals regularly 'haul out' to digest their food or rest, so if you meet one on a beach, please give it plenty of space and keep dogs away. This is especially true for mothers and pups. Seals are also easily spooked from their rocky resting spots, so if in a boat or kayak, maintain a distance of at least 100m where possible.

Wonder if this Oystercatcher (Haematopus ostralegus) has got its orange beady eye on lunch! Spotted on the Fife Coastal Path today by our conservation officer Cristín. Oystercatchers love to eat cockles and mussels on the coast and mainly eat worms when they're inland.
