I have lived in live in Fife for most of my life and have been a Board Member of FCCT for 8 years. I have extensive public and voluntary sector experience with specific interest in creativity, inclusion, engagement and wellbeing, focussing on how we make and share individual and community stories. I am passionate about making a difference through people-centred practice and creating conditions that enable individual and community growth and wellbeing, particularly through being active outdoors.
After graduating from the Scottish College of Textiles I worked as a freelance Community Artist, Facilitator and Trainer before joining Fife Council. This was initially as an Arts and Disability Officer in 1990, before I moved to work in Glasgow in 1999. In July 2021 I retired from the role of Director of Cultural Services at Glasgow Life, the largest culture, sport and learning charity in the UK. I was responsible for strategic leadership and management of Art and Music, Museums and Collections, Libraries, Learning and Community Services. I was awarded an OBE in the 2017 New Year Honours for Services to Culture in Glasgow.
I am currently a Trustee of Largo Communities Together, taking a lead for community sustainable development. I am also the Convenor of Creative Lives Scotland, the Chair of the Donald Dewar Art Awards and a trustee of the National Trust for Scotland. I was pleased to become Chair of FCCT in March 2025.
