River Roaming Along the Back Burn

Join us for a gentle walk along the Back Burn river at Coul Den. The Back Burn is a tributary to the River Leven, and a known spawning river for native brown trout. It’s also home to other species such as otter, heron and dipper.

During this walk we will explore the Back Burn’s history and the changes to the river over time. You will also see how a recent restoration project has worked to restore natural processes and support local wildlife to thrive.

This walk is led by Maddie, River Restoration project manager at Fife Coast and Countryside Trust.

This will be a gentle walk of approximately 3 kilometres and follow a well-established path, but please wear appropriate footwear and dress to the weather conditions. We will be providing coffee, tea and light refreshments. The event is free.

About the Catchment Festival

This event is part of the ‘Catchment Festival: A Day Along the Leven Catchment’. From dawn til dusk on the 17th October, you can join us for a day of walks, food, art, ecology, stories and conversations. All to celebrate the landscape shaped by water and the people who call it home. Beginning as the landscape wakes and ending around a shared table, the Catchment Festival invites you to slow down, listen, explore, create, eat and imagine the future of the catchment together.
