Fife tourism firm’s donation helps care for the Kingdom’s outdoors

One of Britain’s leading boutique destination management companies has collaborated with Fife Coast and Countryside Trust to help fund the conservation and maintenance of some of the Kingdom’s best outdoor places.

Best of Scotland Holidays, which is headquartered in Kirkcaldy, has donated £1,650 from its 2025 season bookings to the Trust.

The firm is one of Britain’s longest established, independent destination management companies (DMCs). It delivers tailor-made leisure and golfing packages throughout the UK and Ireland to tour operators, agents and independent travellers.

Local charity

Kirsten Laing is its Sales and Marketing Director. She says: “We are delighted to have partnered with the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust team and to be part of their Big Green Footprint Scheme. Since my return to the family business in 2024, supporting a local charity has been important to us and we are so lucky to have this organisation on our doorstep.

“Our contribution to projects means that we are helping support our natural environment for visitors to enjoy, but importantly through tourism we can give back to local communities who also use these resources.”

FCCT’s CEO Jeremy Harris thanked Kirsten for the donation. He said: “Best of Scotland Holidays are a great match with FCCT. They are proudly based in Fife and, like us, seek to connect locals, visitors and international travellers with our wonderful outdoor places in the most responsible way.

“FCCT’s role in looking after more than 70 sites is integral to the Kingdom’s excellent tourism offering. We manage and maintain 117 miles of Fife Coastal Path and 64 miles of Fife Pilgrim Way. We also conserve nature and wildlife habitats. Importantly for locals and visitors, we also provide award-winning public toilets and maintain car parks.”

The Big Green Footprint Scheme is a way for local businesses, their clients and guests, to give something back to help care for the places they love. For example, by tourism businesses like Best of Scotland Holidays making a donation from their bookings. Such funds help FCCT to maintain and provide access to the Fife Coastal Path, Fife Pilgrim Way, local nature reserves and Lomond Hills Regional Park.

There are also ways for cafés, restaurants and retailers to support FCCT through the Big Green Footprint Scheme, which can be flexible to business needs.
