Guests at some of Fife’s best known holiday destinations have once again made a valued donation to maintain the much-loved Fife Coastal Path.
Through their holiday bookings, Abbeyford Leisure guests have donated an incredible £867 to Fife Coast and Countryside Trust from their 2025 season. In a partnership that goes back nearly 10 years, the business and its customers have donated over £5,200 to FCCT for path maintenance and development.
The Fife Coastal Path links the firm’s award-winning holiday parks in St Andrews, Elie and St Monans, as well as cottages in Lower Largo. Enjoying the path is an integral part of many visitors’ holidays, who value the coast’s beauty and want to support the work that helps to protect it.
Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT) manage and maintain the Fife Coastal Path. FCCT developed its ‘Big Green Footprint Scheme’ where businesses can contribute to the maintenance of the Coastal Path and other sites and paths that FCCT manage.
Businesses can do this in several ways, from corporate volunteering activities to inviting customers to make a small voluntary donation. There are also ways for cafés, restaurants and retailers to support FCCT through this flexible scheme.
Abbeyford Leisure was one of the scheme’s founding members and invites its holiday guests to add a voluntary £1 donation when booking their stay. This allows guests to give a little something back to the places they love. And it’s a way to collect those small contributions that add up to a significant amount. This year the firm is also contributing to the replacement of coastal safety markers, which help emergency services find people in distress.
The firm’s Chairman, David Evans, said: “We are so pleased to see our guests’ continued generosity. Many come here year after year to relax, explore, and enjoy the coast, and it is wonderful that they also want to contribute to looking after it.
“Fife Coast and Countryside Trust do fantastic work preserving this area’s natural beauty, and we are proud to support them with our visitors’ help.”
FCCT’s CEO, Jeremy Harris, said: “Our huge thanks once again to all the holidaymakers who contributed and to Abbeyford Leisure for their continued support. Like us, they are a local organisation who love and care for our special places and want to see them protected for future generations.”
