New Dunes from Old Trees Project 2020

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we have taken the difficult decision to not receive Christmas Trees at the West Sands, St Andrews this year. The trees are used for restoration of the sand dunes.

Last year more than 4000 trees were brought to our project from across Fife, Perth and Kinross and Tayside, which was wonderful however this year we would potentially see people moving between different tiers, to drop off their trees.

The second phase of the ‘New Dunes from Old Trees’ project involves more than 50 volunteers and staff moving the trees into the dune crater, which is vital work and cannot be undertaken at present.

The safety of our volunteers and staff is of paramount importance, so sadly, we will pause the project for 2020 and all being well we will be back in 2021.

Please do not bring your tree to West Sands, to recycle your tree this year, this can be done at your local Fife Council Recycling Centre. Thank you.
