Dysart was a port of some renown from at least as early as 1450 with an export trade in salt and coal. There was no harbour at the time, with the ships being grounded in the bay at the Pan Ha’ and loaded when the tide was out. Now a harbour for pleasure use only, it is a beautifully picturesque spot.
