FCCT Managed Parking

Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT) manage 13 car parks across Fife. Each car park has signage explaining what kind of vehicles can park there, whether overnight parking is permitted, and what the associated parking charges are.

Our car parks are managed and maintained in order to protect the environment, adhere to health and safety, and to ensure that locals and tourists can enjoy the best that Fife has to offer.

You may meet our mobile car parking attendants, who are there to help and advise you on where to safely park and how to comply with our Parking Charge Notification (PCN) schemes.

We hope you enjoy your visit to the Kingdom.

Overnight Parking

Motorhomes and campervans can park overnight at some of our car parks on a first come, first served basis with no awnings, pop-up toilet or any other type of tent. Camping cars are permitted where they have a roof tent. But it’s not permitted to pitch your tent or awning on the car park surface. A small charge for staying the night applies at our participating car parks. This is payable to an onsite parking meter or honesty box.

Any permitted vehicle that wants to stay overnight, must be in an overnight bay. Users who wish to stay overnight in a designated bay are of course allowed to use FCCT car parks during normal daytime hours, in the same way any other visitor would. So, if you are in a car park with parking meters and you haven’t got an overnight ticket, the first 2 hours are free (at Limekilns Pier this is 3 hours) and after that an all-day parking fee may apply (see signage).

Sustainable Parking

PCN schemes were introduced following consultation with local groups and stakeholders arising from the volume of overnight motorhome parking in Fife. It was evident this growing form of tourism brings not only challenges but opportunities for people who live here and visit Fife.

After gauging the views of residents, landowners, Community Councils, Fife Council and visitors, FCCT successfully trialled PCN schemes at car parks which had seen a significant increase in visitor numbers from motorhome users.

Income from parking is invested in our sustainable car parks. For example, in maintenance, staff resources, facilitating safe parking, extending public toilet opening hours and providing chemical toilet disposal points. New toilet blocks with overnight toilet facilities were installed at Kingsbarns and Elie Ruby Bay. The chemical toilet disposal point at Elie Ruby Bay is open in the mornings April to October and closed November to March.

Time is right

You can stay for 2 nights only, and you should not return to the same car park to stay overnight within 48 hours.

Find a space

Please park safely and leave at least 3 metres between you and your neighbour. All participating car parks have designated overnight bays.

Please be considerate

To ensure a pleasant stay for everyone, please follow our guidance:

  • Distancing: Leave 3 metres between you and your neighbour.
  • Chemical Waste Disposal: You must never use our public toilet as chemical disposal points.
  • Toilet waste: Never pour toilet waste into streams, rivers, lochs or undergrowth, even if it’s only urine – emptying a container of urine will kill vegetation and may pose a health risk.
  • Fires: Fires and barbecues are not permitted within the curtilage of any car park.
  • Rubbish: Consider taking all rubbish away with you in the first instance or use our car park bins.
  • Quiet Nights: Always keep noise levels down but especially between 10pm and 7am.
  • Dogs: Always keep dogs on a lead or under close control and pick up after your dog.
  • Car Park Full: See information below or check Visit Scotland for nearby campsites and please do not park irresponsibly.
