Tourists have flocked to Leven Beach since Victorian times. And with the opening of the new railway station in June 2024, visitors and locals are once again appreciating its facilities and beautiful sands.
This long, sandy beach has rock pools to guddle in and seals to spot at low tide. And at high tide it’s a really popular wild swimming spot. For safety, RNLI lifeguards patrol it during the summer months.
A pleasant promenade, green open space, a caravan park and golf course back the sands. Picnic tables offer views across the Firth of Forth. Kids and adults can have fun at the skateboard park, children’s play area and outdoor gym. And the legendary putting green was refurbished and reopened in July 2024. The Fife Coastal Path also passes the beach.
You can reach the beach from the A915 Fife coastal road, by taking the B955 and turning left along The Promenade. This area is conveniently close to the bus terminal and town centre.
In April 2024 a Parking Charge Notification scheme was introduced at Leven Promenade. There are 10 overnight parking bays for you to use. Drivers should check the signage and find details on our website.
The sands are winners of a Keep Scotland Beautiful 2024 Scotland’s Beach Award. Why not download our ‘Fringe of Gold’ Beaches leaflet?
