Markinch to Kennoway

The Markinch to Kennoway section of the route passes through farmland with lovely views of the Lomond Hills. Interesting features along the way include St Drostan’s Tower and historic churchyard. The present building is thought to date from the early 12th century, and although the body of the kirk has been remodelled , the 12th century tower is intact, and is of particular interest. Markinch and Thornton Parish Church is open to the public and there is also access to toilets.

The Markinch Heritage Group contains a great deal of historical information and local walks around the Markinch area. And for more in-depth information read The Story of Fife Pilgrim Kingdom on our website.
