The Pitcairn Centre is the base for Fife Coast and Countryside Trust’s maintenance and conservation teams.
Pitcairn is situated on the northern edge of Glenrothes and has its own car park. The site provides excellent access into the Lomond Hills Regional Park, Coul Den Reservoir and Formonthills community woodland. Coul Den Reservoir is an important site for wildlife and, as such, it attracts many birds, insects and mammals.
As of January 2025, there is an iClean dog-wash machine situated at Pitcairn, at the front of the building. For £10 [payable by card] you can wash and dry your dog, of any size, and add flea treatment if you want. Just follow the instructions on the small display panel. There are 8 programmes and you can choose to use whatever programmes you prefer. Just press the button for your choice.
You can find out more about local walks and wildlife on the orientation map in the car park. There are also Loo of the Year award-winning public toilets open from Monday to Friday. The opening times are listed on our Travel and Information section.
