The Cairneyhill to Dunfermline section of the Fife Pilgrim Way takes in a variety of habitats, including woodland and farmland. As the route climbs out of Crossford towards Knockhouse Farm, be sure to stop and admire the panoramic views across to the Lothians. For walkers heading east, remember to look out for your first glimpse of majestic Dunfermline Abbey on the skyline. The burial place of Scottish Kings and Queens is worth a visit. Its nave and Dunfermline Palace ruins are under the care of Historic Environment Scotland.
