Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT) are supporting communities in Fife, by supplying ‘Community Litter Pick Tool Kits’. The ‘Tool Kits’ were funded by monies gifted from the ‘Tesco Bags of Help Scheme’. The Trust purchased a number of the kits, which will be used to support and encourage communities to get involved in environmental clean-up activities.
FCCT recently gifted community of Burntisland a ‘Community Litter Pick Tool Kit’, the kit provides all the required equipment to conduct litter picks, including protective equipment, Healthy and Safety Equipment.
John Bruce accepted the ‘Tool Kit’ on behalf Burntisland Community Council commenting, ‘We are passionate about keeping our Town as clean as possible and in particular the beach, where a monthly beach clean now takes place. I would like to thank Fife Coast and Countryside for the support they given us over the years this support is much appreciated.’
A number of community environmental initiatives are being delivered in the Burntisland area. Including the ‘Pick and Fix’ initiative, which installed stations where dog poo bags are supplied at key locations to reduce dog fouling. Starley Hall School have made an additional twenty boxes to hold dog poo bags, these will be sited at locations across the town.
Floral Action Burntisland have worked hard to ensure the town is as clean as possible, this work has been recognised with Gold Certificate in the Beautiful Fife Competition 2019.
Meg Moore, FCCT Volunteer Co-ordinator commented, ‘We are delighted to support the community of Burntisland in their bid to improve quality of the beach and open spaces in Burntisland. We have a number of kits which groups can borrow for a litter pick and we can also provide some assistance with collecting rubbish.’
