St. Andrews Caledonian Society Supports FCCT

Fife Coast and Countryside Trust are delighted to receive a donation £4000 from the St. Andrews Caledonian Society.

The Society which has a membership of around 300 drawn from across the student body and coming from many different countries. Throughout the year they take part in regular weekly sessions learning Scottish reeling and hold two balls annually, one Black tie in November and one White tie in March.

Post Covid the Society held open-air reels on West Sands from September 2021, enabled students to come together, with over 250 dancers learning traditional dances including the popular Reel of the 51st and the Duke of Perth Reel.

Society President Miranda Joicey, commented, ‘We identified Fife Coast and Countryside Trust as the charity we would like to support in academic year 2021/22 as they do a wonderful job looking after beaches and the Fife Coastal Path, for residents, the student population and the many thousands of visitors who visit St Andrews and Fife annually.’

The donation will be used to ensure that the sites managed by FCCT continue to be maintained for the increased number of visitors who are drawn to Fife’s amazing outdoor spaces.
