Tide Line leads to new site for sculptural artist

Julie Brook, the artist who created the fantastic foreshore sculpture Tide Line last year, is developing a new Fife project.

Julie is now collaborating with Fife Contemporary in a research and development project to find a site for making a new public sculptural work. This will sit alongside an exhibition of the work she makes internationally.

Tide Line is a path created from local materials that winds along the low water mark near Cellardyke. The artist was inspired to create it from walking the coast and meeting locals and artists.

Local people

Julie’s work responds directly to the site and materials close to hand in relation to the cultural, social and climatic significance to the place. She is looking at working quarries and old quarry spaces, clay works, woodlands, moorlands, docklands, field spaces and new developments. Her new site in Fife will need to invite public access.

Part of Julie’s research is meeting local people and organisations who would like to be involved.

All ideas of sites and people to meet are very welcome. She appreciates having local guides taking her to these places to share their knowledge of what makes a specific place special or significant.

Please contact Julie orĀ Kate Grenyer, director of Fife Contemporary.
