Rebecca’s vital role in growing Fife’s woodlands

Are you interested in planting trees in Fife? Our new Community Tree Planting Officer would like to hear from you!

This new post has been taken up by Rebecca Logsdon. Her role has been created as part of a Climate Action Fife project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund.

Rebecca explains: “I’ll be working with partners and communities to rapidly increase the area and diversity of Fife woodland, in response to the climate and ecological emergencies.

“Over the next five years this partnership will help communities to plant trees. This is so that people benefit from improvements in the quality of their environment, enhanced wellbeing and increased opportunities for developing skills. I’ll be developing a Tree Planting Strategy for Fife and providing support to make community woodland and orchard planting happen.”

Practical action

During her career Rebecca has worked with local, regional and national environmental and conservation organisations. These include The Green Team working with community groups on practical conservation projects and Forestry Commission Scotland on engaging people with woodlands. Just recently she has worked with the John Muir Trust to encourage people to take practical action for nature and climate.

She adds: “I’m motivated by making sure everyone has an opportunity to experience nature. And to make a difference to their local environment.”
